CRÉDIT AGRICOLE SIGNS THE ECOWATT CHARTER
In line with its commitment to contribute to carbon neutrality by 2050 and to significantly reduce its environmental operating footprint(1) by 2030, the Crédit Agricole Group has signed the EcoWatt Commitment Charter and is adopting concrete measures to promote more responsible electricity consumption.
The EcoWatt initiative is a real citizen engagement initiative developed by RTE (French national power grid) and ADEME (French agency for the ecological transition). Supported by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition, it aims to reduce or defer French users’ electricity consumption during peak usage periods for the power grid (by sending a red warning signal).
By aligning the temperatures of its sites with those recommended by the ADEME (19°C for heating, 26°C for air-conditioning, etc.) and regulating the lighting of its 7,400 branches in France, the Group will be able to reduce its consumption.
These commitments to optimise energy consumption on its two largest campuses will enable it to target an overall energy saving of up to 14% over two years compared with 2019.
Crédit Agricole is also committed to raising awareness of the initiative among its employees and 27 million customers and it will communicate EcoWatt warning signals to encourage them to reduce the pressure on the power grid.
In the event of an EcoWatt alert, the Group, through its businesses and companies, and taking into account their specific characteristics, will activate the pre-prepared work organisation procedures to ensure business continuity (remote working, alternating presence, etc.), proportionately and according to the sites and the agreements in force within each entity.
