Crédit Agricole CIB support for Belgium's first green bond

Crédit Agricole CIB provided support to the Kingdom of Belgium's first green bonds issue.

The €4.5 billion's worth of 15-year bonds turned Belgium into the second Eurozone country to issue this type of bond, after France. Largely oversubscribed*, it confirms Belgium's commitment to the development of green finance and clearly shows its desire to fight climate change. Like the first French sovereign green bond issue at the beginning of 2017, Crédit Agricole CIB acted as joint lead bank and structuring agent. This deal boosts CACIB's expertise with sovereign funds and its leadership position in the fast-growing green finance sector.

* Demand for the bonds exceeds the volume offered
