Appointment

The Board of Directors of Crédit Agricole Italia, meeting in an extraordinary session on February 12, 2025, has appointed Hugues Brasseur as Chief Executive Officer. He will also be proposed as Managing Director of Crédit Agricole Italia at the General Meeting on April 23, 2025.

He will serve as Senior Country Officer for the Group in Italy and will join the Executive Committee of Crédit Agricole S.A.

Hugues Brasseur succeeds Giampiero Maioli, the current CEO of Crédit Agricole Italia and Senior Country Officer for the Group in Italy.

Giampiero Maioli will be proposed as Chairman of Crédit Agricole Italia following the General Meeting of April 23, 2025, replacing Ariberto Fassati, who has notably contributed over the past twenty years to the successful consolidation of the Crédit Agricole group in Italy.

Giampiero Maioli has led the development of Crédit Agricole in Italy, supporting all external and organic growth operations and constantly strengthening synergies with all Crédit Agricole business lines present in Italy.

These appointments are subject to the approval of the competent authorities.

With 6.1 million customers, Italy is the second domestic market for the Crédit Agricole group accounting for 18% of Crédit Agricole S.A.'s 2024 NBI and a contribution of around 16% to Crédit Agricole S.A.’s Group share of net income in 2024.

With 16,100 employees, all Crédit Agricole business lines are present in Italy: retail banking (Crédit Agricole Italia), corporate and investment banking (Crédit Agricole CIB), asset management (Amundi), institutional services (CACEIS), wealth management (Indosuez), insurance (CA Assicurazioni, CA Vita, Credit Agricole Creditor Insurance, etc.), consumer finance (Agos), mobility solutions (CA Auto Bank, Drivalia, Leasys), leasing and factoring (CA Leasing & Factoring).

 

Biographies

Giampiero Maioli, after several national and international experiences, coordinated operations between Cariparma and the Banca Intesa group until the creation of the new Cariparma Crédit Agricole group, of which he was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2007 and Managing Director in 2010. He led all Italian operations, the integration of Credito Valtellinese and the merger with CA Friuladria, thus achieving the group's "Banca Unica" project, renamed Crédit Agricole Italia in 2017. 
Giampiero Maioli has been CEO, Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Italia and Senior Country Officer of the Crédit Agricole group for Italy since April 2012. He is a member of the Executive Committee of Crédit Agricole S.A. and Vice-President of the Italian Banking Association.

Hugues Brasseur began his career in the Banques Populaires group before joining KPMG Peat Marwick in 1995. He joined the Crédit Agricole group in 2000, first at the Caisse régionale Val-de-France as Head of Development and Banking Services, then joined Crédit Agricole S.A. in 2005 as Head of the Retail Market and in 2008 the Caisse régionale de l'Anjou et du Maine as Deputy General Manager. After four years in Italy as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Cariparma, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Caisse régionale de l'Anjou et du Maine in 2017. Hugues Brasseur holds a postgraduate degree in international finance and taxation from the University of Lille II and a Higher Diploma in Accounting and Finance (DESCF).
